Here at last!

Just a quick note to say hello from across the world!

As I got off the airplane, a wave of familiarity (along with heat and humidity) heat me. Underneath the new buildings and renovations, Uganda feels the same. My friend from Peace Corps Uganda generously picked me up from the airport, and I spent the ride to Kampala gazing at the familiar and long-lost vistas-- the maribou storks, the speeding boda-bodas, the rapidly expanding hotels.

But regarding this project, it is also clear that cell phones are playing an even bigger role in society here. Almost every single billboard is sponsored by MTN and CellTel, the biggest mobile providers, and UTL (the Uganda national provider) has a burgeoning prescence. I'm interested to see how this will play out in the public health space.
Speaking of cell phones-- I have one. The number is (256)774-961-699. Feel free to call this number if you need to get ahold of the team!

I'm heading to my old village tomorrow... stay tuned!

I'm so excited for you going back to your village after such a long time away. I can't wait to hear how Stella and the babies are doing!
